In addition to the many downhole services we can provide, Bonnett's Wireline Services can also perform a number of services right from the surface. Read our case studies to see how our Optimization Services can add value to your down hole operations. Click on the link to view service details:
AEUB Regulatory Compliance back to top
Packer Isolation TestsThe AEUB, OGC and SIR require that some wells be equipped with tubing and a packer to isolate produced or injected gas or fluid from the annulus. These wells include those used for injection or disposal of fluids and free flowing sour wells with greater than 5% H2S. Bonnett's experienced field personnel offer packer testing services that include annual packer testing program design, packer isolation testing, and regulatory reporting.
Surface Casing Vent TestingA surface casing vent flow is the flow of gas and/or liquid or any combination out of the surface casing. This flow is tested using a PD gas meter for a 24 hour period (the EUB mandates a minimum 20 hour flow) and a build-up with electronic surface recorders until the well is stabilized (less than 2 kPa/hour increase). Recognizing the rapidly evolving liability and cost issues associated with well bore source emissions, Bonnett's clients have confidence that they have hired a team with the technical ability, the experience, and the equipment to identify the gas source, to apply innovative solutions, and to meet all EUB requirements.
Tank Vent MonitoringFor single well oil batteries where the gas flow is less than 300 m³ / day, tanks are sufficient but need to be tested to show that they are below this minimum, otherwise separators and/or flare stacks need to be implemented. We have the equipment and expertise to record this rate and show that the vented gas is below safe levels.
Suspended Well InspectionsThe inspection and maintenance of suspended wells has always been a challenge, especially in remote locations. We have a variety of all-terrain vehicles including 4x4 Quads, 6x6 ATV with tracks, two sizes of Nodwells and hand-held GPS units for finding the most remote of your suspended wells. Bonnett’s can inspect the lease and wellhead in accordance with the AEUB’s ID 90-4 Appendix III, as well as we will take pressures, take pictures of the lease, wellhead and lease road, and can perform maintenance such as install signs, clear vegetation, grease wellheads and make sure that the valves are securely chained and locked.
Production Optimization back to top
Dynamometer Testing & AnalysisA dynamometer measures load and position data that is analyzed using special software to determine gearbox loads, rod string loads, and pump condition by measuring valve leak-off. A complete system dynamometer analysis will include the pump card interpretation, calculate the system efficiency, and make optimization recommendations as well as comments on equipment loading.
Inflow Performance Relationship (IPR)An IPR or deliverability curve is a plot of the calculated relationship between inflow and sandface drawdown. The IPR of a well graphically shows the producing efficiency and helps determine if there is incremental production available.
Liquid Loading Solutions Liquid loading is not always obvious, but common symptoms include: sharp drops in decline curve, onset of liquid slugs at the surface, increasing difference between flowing tubing-casing pressure, and sharp gradient changes in flowing-pressure survey. Critical velocity calculations, nodal analysis and experience are employed in evaluating liquid loading problems and potential solutions. Solutions options include sizing production strings to eliminate liquid loading (can be very effective for higher flow ranges; may eventually have to be downsized to continue flow), compression (economics and operational reliability can be key issues), plunger lift (may be preferred over smaller tubing for lower rates), coil tubing or flow extensions.
Acoustic Fluid Levels back to top
Foam Depression Tests A foam depression is performed on pumping oil wells with high fluid in the annulus. The casing is shut in while the pumping unit is left producing. As the annulus pressure increases, the fluid level depresses and the rate of change is used to determine the gradient of the fluid which is used to calculate pump intake pressure.
Acoustic Pressure Surveys (AWS) Fluid levels can also be used as a tool for pressure survey analysis. A fluid level test and a surface pressure reading can be used to determine a current bottom hole pressure. A series of fluid levels can be collected over time to provide the data for a pressure transient analysis.
Static Single-Shot Bottomhole Pressure CalculationsA fluid level test records the depth of the gas fluid interface in the annulus or tubing of an oil or gas well. By monitoring the level of fluid in a well, the effectiveness of the current production practices can be evaluated.
